Dell Medical School LibGuide: Creating and Developing the Graduate Medical Residency Resources Section
INF 388L: Professional Experience and Project | Dell Medical School Library | Field Supervisor: Imelda Vetter | May 2021
My project involved creating and developing the Medical Residency Resources section of the Dell Medical School LibGuide. To start, I explored other medical LibGuides and distributed a survey to the School’s medical residents for input. I then added general information, associations and search help to the Resources section. I then created a separate Mobile Apps section on the LibGuide. The majority of my project was creating sub-sections for five of the School’s residency programs. For each residency program, I created a selection of databases, journals, books, clinical guidelines and associations and societies specific and relevant to each residency.

An Introduction to Information about a Career in Librarianship
INF 382S: Library Instruction and Information Literacy, March 2021
-
I created a LibGuide (an online subject resource guide) intended to help students in the School of Information’s undergraduate Informatics degree program find information about the career of librarianship.
-
I compiled a variety of resources including open access online resources, restricted access online resources from the University of Texas at Austin Libraries Catalog, databases, journal articles, books, encyclopedias, videos and podcasts.
-
This LibGuide is developed from a Pathfinder I created covering the same subject area. The Pathfinder has been made available as a resource to students in the undergraduate Informatics degree program.

Library & Information Science Source Database Instructional Video & Activity
INF 382S: Library Instruction and Information Literacy, May 2021
-
Created, developed and filmed by myself and two teammates, this video introduces students to the Library & Information Science Source database, covering how to access the database through University of Texas at Austin Libraries (UT Libraries), an overview and explanation of Boolean operators, and provides a search example for the database using the example of “diversity” and “inclusion” within “library and information studies (LIS)”.
-
We also created an active learning activity, a quiz assessment, to go with the video and test student knowledge.
-
The video and activity has been made available as a resource to students in the undergraduate Informatics degree program.

The students of INF 386E created this physical exhibit remotely on Zoom during the COVID-19 pandemic. Featured in the exhibit were textiles selected from the collection of Harry Jander, a textile collector whose collection has been questioned on its authenticity.
-
Collectively, we selected textiles for show, crafted the exhibit narrative and decided on the final layout.
-
I researched Harry Jander as an individual and the collection’s historical accuracy. I collaborated on the exhibit text’s organization and text layout. I wrote a section label concerning the celebrity pieces of the collection.
